So THIS is what it's like having health insurance! :-O

*Gasp!*

Wow.  I'm actually worn out from the week….

First appt and my oh-so-awesome dr ran me through the mill. lol  Such a cool guy, too.  He signs all of his electronic correspondence, even the notes at the bottom of the lab results, with his first name.  Very cool.  So glad T recommended him.

Anyhoo… back to the insurance…

BC/BS…and what an awesome plan.  Full check-up, blood work, breathing test, and scheduled for everything you could imagine… most that same week! lol  Had an ex-ray of my foot the same day, and I had to go in the next day for an ultrasound of my heart, liver, gallbladder, and kidneys.  THEN, there was a physical therapy session scheduled for my foot for today (rescheduled due to back up in scheduling because of the whacky weather this week), bone density study next week, and they're going to call for the ole colonoscopy next week.

And.. I walked out with meds for my heart arrhythmia, insomnia, a scary-powerful NSAID, and a few other things.  NO stone left unturned.

Amazing.

There is simply NO comparison as to how one is treated when they have insurance as to when they don't have any at all.  I always suspected.  But dang.

All meds covered, because I opted for generics (covered 100% by BC/BS under this plan), most everything else pretty much all but covered, and a super low copay.

Moving on….

I have to begin taking Rx mega-doses of vitamin D beginning today.  50,000 units a week for 26 weeks, then we re-assess.  My levels were really low, which can cause joint and muscle pain, weakness, severe fatigue, heart palpitations, etc., etc.  I get the latter anyway, but this can make it worse.  It takes a long time to recover from this, months and months… up to a good, solid year.  And it's a roller coaster ride, so I've been forewarned…. but… this is the first step, so at least I'm on my way.  :)

I'm also weaning off the medication I'm on for the neuropathy, which is a tough one.  The Dr. in mobile who put me on this stuff, though it wasn't her fault really (FDA has spanked Eli Lilly for not disclosing the dangers and symptoms of withdrawing off this medication to doctors AND patients) should have read a bit more and opted for something else.  It's been hell, but it will pass eventually.  I Don't want to take this stuff, so I'm going off this garbage and will be using something else entirely to replace it at some point.

What a ride! lol

Speaking of riding…. my middle son got one of the patches he'd been waiting for.  :)  He's so happy, and I'm so happy for him!  Red & gold have always been a nice combination on black leather anyway.

Well, my arms are a little tired, and T will be home soon.  Sooooooooo……  I'm outta here for now!

Asta!
